January 12, 2009 – Christian Parts of Speech

C.S. Lewis once likened his role as a Christian writer to an adjective humbly striving to point others to the noun of truth. So how are all you Christian adjectives?

Are you refining your modifying and describing skills so that you can be the very best adjective you can be? Good writing is a skill that takes time, effort, and practice to improve. Don’t give up. The Almighty Noun is worthy of your best as an adjective.

Maybe you want to point others to the truth, but no one reads your writing. At some point you’re going to have to get past writing journals that are only precious to you and a few friends. If you are going to become a Christian writer, you’ve got to step out into the unknown and actually submit manuscripts. Don’t know how? We’ll keep working on it. Maybe you’re not ready yet, but write out some goals that will move you that direction.

Finding the exact right word is one of the secrets of good writing. Being the exact right adjective is one of the secrets to victorious Christian living. May God help us all to point to him in 2009!
